Ha ha ha hons. Also, keeping the festive spirit in mind a 'ho ho ho'! The reason for my mirth is not the 'jolly season', but the 'folly' season that's always in full bloom when it comes to novice journos quizzing 'pro' stars. Now a TV reporter has gone and angered the sultry Bipasha Basu by asking unnecessary questions about boyfriend John Abraham's anatomy - of all things.
It made me laugh no end to imagine Bips turning red - more out of anger - when the silly billy journo asked her 'Is it true that one of John's eyes is smaller than the other?'
There was dead calm for a minute, then the Bengali bombshell exploded. Ticking off the reporter severely for asking such stupid questions. Apparently it was an item in a Mumbai city tabloid that had written about Johnny's chhotti aankh; and TV journos in India simply pick headlines off the daily papers and make it their daily stories anyway (don't believe me? Check it out for yourself); with absolutely no credence or basis or investigation in their reporting. In any case, why ask about John's eye dahlings? While on anatomy, to make it more interesting, why not ask about the size of his ... uh, huh ... biceps, I mean? That would bring more 'muscle' to the story, wotsay?

Now Amitabh - Aamir 'War' Erupts ... Frankly, I'm Bored!
Ho hum dahlings. I've seen so many of these so-called 'Star Wars' over the years, they've begun to bore me. Barely has the Bachchan - Shah Rukh died down (or has it, now?) that AB has trained his guns at yet another Khan. Aamir this time. And the cause of his ire is a statement by the outspoken (always around release time dearies, always around release time) Aamir in a recent interview on why he didn't like Black; how he thought it was 'over the top'; how he didn't agree with Rani's voiceover when the movie starts ("How can a deaf, blind, dumb person from birth have a V/O?") and how it was insensitive to a child ("Much like making a bear dance!"). Well, it did anger one ol' bear enough to come out charging and lashing out at Aamir.
AB has responded in an interview stating, "Yes, Black must've been 'over the top for Aamir ... it went over the top of his head!" He also referred to AK's films with similar subjects on disabilities like Fanaa saying that in that case those were insensitive too.
Now Aamir is seeking an appointment with angry Amit to clear the air. But hey, guess what dahlings? At the end of the day, the media's had a feast, the warring parties have shaken hands and the stars' in question have got extra large chunks of free publicity. So everyone's happy, eh? Except one person ... ME! Frankly darlings, I'm bored. How about some 'real' stories now huh?
PS: While on the topic, it does amaze me how easy it has become to 'bait' our dear Amit. All one has to do is give one quote here or there and hey presto, he responds true to form. maybe he should just ignore the 'baiters', that way they get no publicity and that's best punishment na? Write in and tell me what you think of this whole drama? Your opinion matters. To them too!

Madhuri Knocked Me Out! But Was 'Aaja Nachle'' The Right Choice?
Sorry dahlings! Was away a few days. In cold coma. Knocked out by Madhuri Dixit on two counts! One - everyone who knows me, knows of my great obsession with the diva (but then who isn't obsessed with her?) - so I'm still reeling from her kayo act in Aaja Nachle. She's looking as amazing, her 1000 watt smile hasn't lost any luminescence, she's as beautiful (of course the 'untoned' look of the 80s has been replaced by 'worked out' arms) and she acts as well as I've always known her to - over the 20 odd years I've known her. In fact, I've always arrogantly proclaimed to all other actresses that 'after Madhuri there's been no megastar heroine' (at the risk of offending the beautiful Aishwarya, the charming Rani and the firecracker Kareena). Maybe I'm right, maybe not (that's another debate) but the second reason I was KO-ed was the choice of film. It simply wasn't the right vehicle for an actor and star of her calibre to return to Bollywoood, after 6 long years, with! It was a rehash of the 'feel good' factors of Lagaan and Chak De India, and added nothing new. And I was finally cured of my insomnia in the prolonged climax song (thank you).
In fact, I wish that the brilliant Aditya Chopra had wielded the megaphone himself for this one for Dixit. The result would've been different (with all respect to the noble intent of debutant director Anil Mehta). Well! I just hope we don't have to wait toooooo long for our lovely lady to return once more. We don't want our loss to be America's gain now, do we?
PS: Write in with your views - on what would've been a better choice for Madhuri to return with. Or isn't there any place for 40-plus actreses in Bollywood?
